PostDoc+ Research Grant
Funding Objective and Conditions
- The PostDoc+ Research Grant supports one female scholar in preparing and submitting an application for an innovative research project to an external sponsor.
- We particularly welcome applications geared towards a junior research group (ERC Starting Grant, a junior research group in the DFG’s Emmy Noether program, a BMBF junior research group, Elite Network of Bavaria/international junior research groups, or comparable programs) and research projects in the field of gender and intersectionality studies.
- Previous scholarly work (publications, academic networks, preliminary applications) must be described in detail in the application.
- Funding will be provided for the winter term 2025/2026.
Target Group
- Female scholars at postdoctoral level and above are eligible to apply.
- Only female scholars pursuing a career with the goal of a professorship are eligible for funding.
- Affiliation with a department at the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology at FAU must be guaranteed and verifiable.
- You cannot receive funding from different research funding programs at FAU (e.g. start-up funding from the faculty, ETI funding). Therefore, simultaneous applications must be disclosed.
Application Procedure
- Two obligatory consultations are required before submitting an application
a) Office for Research and Early-Career Researchers (BfF) at the faculty:

Please contact the emailadresse below. - Junior female scholars may submit their application via email (phil-frauenbeauftragte@fau.de) to the women’s representatives of the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology, Dr. Katharina Gerund and Dr. Cleophea Ferrari, and their advisor by February 16, 2025.
- Please submit your application documents in the following order in one PDF file:
a) Completed application form
b) A 5-10 pages description of the project, including details of previous academic work
c) List of publications
d) Proof of doctoral degree
e) Proof of affiliation with a department at the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology at FAU
Reporting Obligations
- The funded scholar should submit an application to the named external sponsor no later than 12 months after the funding starts. Proof of this must be submitted to the women’s representatives at the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology.
- After completing the coaching, the grantee should submit a brief reflection report to the advisor to the women’s representatives of the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology.
- The awarding committee reserves the right to reclaim the funding, if the application is not submitted to the external sponsor as announced.
