On October 12, 2021, Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Bronfen was ceremonially awarded an honorary doctorate in Philosophy. Dean of the Faculty Prof. Dr. Rainer Trinczek presented her with the certificate and honoured the English Studies researcher’s achievements in science, science communication and of course at the Faculty of Humanities at FAU, with which she has been in close collaboration for decades.

Congratulations to Christina-Maria Wiesner! A graduate student in the Master’s programme of Archaeology, she has received the student prize of the German Society for Pre- and Protohistory (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Ur- und Frühgeschichte, DGUF) for her Master’s thesis. The study award honours special achievements by students and thus aims to promote young academics.

Chinese Fengshui, ritual magic in Germany, Vodun in West Africa, or kabbalah ma´asit in Israel: practices aimed at predicting, controlling, and manipulating life events can be found almost everywhere. Together with the Leibnitz Institute for Media Research, a team at the Chair of Educational Science led by Prof. Dr. Rudolf Kammerl is researching how digital media change the way children grow up. The project “Sozialisation in einer sich wandelnden Medienumgebung – ConKids” (approximated: socialisation in a changing media environment) is now entering its second phase funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
